Most "best Harley dolly" lists rank dollies by price and capacity. That skips the question that actually decides whether a dolly works for you: will it fit under your bike? Here's how to measure your Harley in about five minutes, what to check on the dolly itself, and where the Let's Roll Cruiser Dolly lands on each point.
The short answer
The best Harley-Davidson motorcycle dolly holds the bike on its frame instead of the kickstand, is rated well above your bike's weight, and fits the clearance under your frame. The Let's Roll Cruiser Dolly is rated for 1,100 lbs, made in Michigan, and works on most Harley Touring, Softail, and Dyna models. Measure first, then buy.
Measure your Harley before you buy any dolly
You need a tape measure and a flashlight. Check these three things on the kickstand side of the bike.
-
1
17 inches of clear frame
Measure the frame rail between the wheels. You need at least 17" of frame the dolly can sit under, with no exhaust piping, wiring, or other parts hanging below it.
-
2
Frame-to-floor height
On the kickstand side, measure from the bottom of the frame to the floor. Both Let's Roll jacks rest at 3.85" with the felt pad and 3.75" without it. If your number is higher, the jack fits under.
-
3
Kickstand location
The kickstand mount needs to be on the outside of the frame. A mount on the inside can get in the jack's way.
What to check on the dolly itself
Once you know your bike fits, compare dollies on the things that matter after you've owned one for a few years.
| Check | Why it matters | Cruiser Dolly |
|---|---|---|
| Weight rating | Touring bikes are the heaviest Harleys made. You want a rating with real room above your bike's weight, not one that just clears it. | 1,100 lb capacity |
| What the bike sits on | A dolly that holds the frame takes the weight off the tires and suspension and keeps the bike upright, not leaning on the kickstand. | Frame rests on rubber-padded crossbars. No tie-downs required. |
| Adjustability | Harley frames aren't all the same height. Adjustable crossbars let the dolly meet your frame instead of the other way around. | Crossbars adjust in 1.5" steps. Height 8.5" to 10". |
| Casters | Cheap wheels hang up on concrete seams and mark epoxy floors. Locking casters keep the bike from drifting while you work. | Zero-scuff™ 4" urethane casters. Two ball-bearing casters with brakes installed. |
| Footprint | A small base lets you turn the bike sideways and push it against a wall to free up floor space. | 35" x 18". Dolly weighs 38 lbs. |
| Hydraulics | Hydraulic stands can leak and stain the floor over time. | No hydraulics. Nothing to leak. |
| Build and warranty | Steel gauge and welds are what separate a dolly that lasts from one that flexes. | US steel, textured matte black powder coat, made in Michigan. Lifetime warranty. |

Fit notes by Harley family
Every bike should be measured, but here's what to watch for by model family.
Road Glide, Street Glide, Road King, Ultra Limited. These are the bikes the Cruiser Dolly was built around. Weight is the big concern here, so the 1,100 lb rating matters most on this family.
Fat Boy, Heritage Classic, Breakout, Low Rider. Some Softails sit low, so take the frame-to-floor measurement on the kickstand side before you order.
Street Bob, Wide Glide, Super Glide, Fat Bob. Check that exhaust routing and wiring aren't hanging below the frame rail in the 17" span.
Clearance is the only number that matters. Both Let's Roll jacks rest at 3.85" with the felt pad, or 3.75" with the pad removed.
A dolly needs a jack
No dolly lifts a Harley by itself. The jack raises the bike, you slide the dolly under, then lower the bike onto the crossbars. That's the jack's whole job. The dolly is where the bike lives for storage and maintenance.
If you already own a scissor jack that fits under your bike, the dolly alone will do. If not, both Let's Roll jacks are rated at 1,100 lbs and lift from 3.85" to 10.5". The Standard Jack is built for occasional use. The Apexx Jack adds a replaceable ball-bearing screw for frequent, heavy-duty use.
“I've always used a motorcycle jack, and the bike always seemed unstable, but the dolly gives me the sense of ease and very easy to operate.”

Harley dolly FAQ
What is the best motorcycle dolly for a Harley-Davidson?
The best one is the dolly that fits under your frame, holds the bike on the frame rather than the kickstand, and is rated well above your bike's weight. The Let's Roll Cruiser Dolly is rated for 1,100 lbs, has rubber-padded adjustable crossbars and locking casters, and is made in Michigan.
How do I know if a dolly will fit my Harley?
Measure three things on the kickstand side: at least 17" of clear frame between the wheels, the height from the bottom of the frame to the floor, and whether the kickstand mount sits outside the frame. Nothing like exhaust or wiring can hang below the frame where the dolly sits.
Do I need a jack to use a motorcycle dolly?
Yes. The jack lifts the bike so the dolly can slide underneath. If you already have a scissor jack that fits under your bike, you only need the dolly. Otherwise, the Standard or Apexx Package includes both.
Will the Cruiser Dolly work on a lowered Harley?
It depends on your frame-to-floor clearance. Both Let's Roll jacks rest at 3.85" with the felt pad and 3.75" without it. Measure on the kickstand side and compare.
Does the Cruiser Dolly work on a Sportster?
Yes, with the IMAP adapter plate. Sportster models need the IMAP to sit correctly on the jack and dolly.
Do I need tie-down straps on the dolly?
No. The frame sits on industrial rubber padding that holds the bike in place. If you want tie-down points anyway, Let's Roll Eyelets add a pair to the dolly.
